Psycho-Pass: what is the anime about?
Psycho Pass adapt the manga Inspector Akane Tsunemori. It is a sci-fi anime that explores the enforcement of justice, issues of privacy and personal data, and crime in a futuristic world.
In 22nd century Japan, the mental state of all citizens is carefully examined through a technology known as the Sybil System to determine their predilection for crime, known as the Psycho-Pass.
Anyone deemed even slightly dangerous is violently subjugated and even killed by Inspectors who will do anything to uphold the law, while Enforcers – citizens who have shown a suspicious Psycho-Pass are asked to do the dirty work of the inspector for the right to enjoy a relatively free life.
Akane Tsunemori is a young woman passionate about justice. When working alongside Enforcer Shinya Kougami, however, Akane has to reevaluate many of her ideas about law enforcement, as she discovers that the Sibyl System may not be so perfect after all.
And how can a potentially corrupt system measure the corruption of others?
